What is Rashu Plastic Project?

Rashu Plastic Project is a Maldives-based initiative that transforms discarded plastic into beautiful, useful products. We collect, clean, shred, and remould plastic into items like keychains, earrings, and custom pieces, giving it a second life instead of letting it pollute our islands and oceans.

Where does your plastic come from?

Our plastic comes from locally collected waste in Vaavu. We work to recover plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean and turn it into durable, long-lasting products.

What types of plastic do you use?

At the moment we work with HDPE, commonly found in bottle caps, containers, and household cosmetic items. Each type is carefully sorted and processed to ensure quality and safety.

Why do the colours and patterns vary?

Since we use real recycled plastic, no two batches are ever the same. The marbling, speckles, and colour blends are naturally created during the melting process, making every piece one-of-a-kind.

What happens to the leftover plastic in your recycling process?

All plastic is saved and remelted into a new product. Nothing goes to waste in our workshop!

Do you offer custom designs for resorts or businesses?

Yes. We love collaborating with resorts, NGOs, and local businesses. We can create custom shapes, branded pieces, and meaningful souvenirs, in your brand colours, made from recycled plastic. Contact us to discuss your ideas.

Can I donate plastic to you?

Not yet! At the moment we are currently only accepting plastic from Vaavu Atoll as we do not have large enough facilities to recycle larger quantities of plastic. We will be able to expand our recycling capacity in the future with better equipment.

How can I purchase an item or organise a workshop?

Do you ship internationally?

We currently deliver across all islands in the Maldives. For international shipping inquiries please contact us directly via email at rashuplasticproject@gmail.com so we can do our best to arrange it.
